Maria became the mother of Ellen F Cowzer in Civil Parish of Naas, Co. Kildare, 01/02/1856. Maria became the mother of Thomas Cowzer 1859.

At 42 years of age John became the father of Ellen F Cowzer in Civil Parish of Naas, Co. Kildare, 01/02/1856. At 46 years of age John became the father of Thomas Cowzer 1859. Occupation : Land Steward. Locations : Estate in Co. Cork, finally estate 'Favour Royal' on Tyrone/Monaghan border. One child (Ellen Fanny) was christened in Naas, Co. Kildare, so he may have lived there also. (Note Naas was then a Civil Parish which would have covered an area as large as Co. Kildare does today). He was married in Tallow, Co. Waterford (but very close to Co. Cork), and may have lived near here.

At 25 years of age Thomas became the father of Joseph Patrick Cowzer in Donnybrook, Dublin, 09/03/1885. Thomas last lived at 28, Gordon St, Ringsend, Dublin 2. A previous address was 3 Dundee Terrace, Grand Canal Street, Dublin 2. Thomas worked in 'Booths of Mount Street' (again in Dublin 2), which was a Furniture shop/Factory. He taught carpentry at Ringsend Technical School. One of his achievements was to build the staircase for Queen Victoria (of England) to descend from the boat when she visited Ireland (in 1896 we think) at Dun Laoghaire (about 6 miles south of Dublin - it was known as Kingstown then). Apparently it was considered 'not dignified' if the queen had to descend on a normal gangway so a staircase was constructed. Thomas was a Methodist, although his children were all raised as Roman Catholic, probably because his wife Catherine was catholic.
